Equinox Labyrinth Event: Saturday September 24, 2011 from 9 to 11 am at Spanish Banks, Vancouver.

The forecast for tomorrow is splendid. So this event will occur as scheduled. 

Equinox is a transitional time of the year as we pass from summer into fall.  This change of season may be used as a metaphor for our life as we redesign, reshape or remodel our lives when our world shifts. Walking a labyrinth with the intention of reorganizing our priorities can grant our spirit permission to unearth a new path.

Happy World Wide Labyrinth Day!

Good morning. I will be drawing a labyrinth at Spanish Banks in Vancouver later this morning. Walking will start by 1:00 pm. Dress for the weather and crossing shallow tide pools.

World Wide Labyrinth Day: May 7, 2011 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.

I will be holding this event tomorrow rain or shine at Spanish Banks in Vancouver BC,  so dress for the weather and come 'walk.'

Labyrinth event: Celebrate World Wide Labyrinth Day - May 7, 2011 from 1 to 4 pm at Spanish Banks, Vancouver, BC, Canada.

World Wide Labyrinth Day is organized by The Labyrinth Society (TLS) to celebrate the labyrinth as "a symbol, a tool, a passion or a practice."

The genesis of the labyrinth remains somewhat of a mystery. The earliest recovered labyrinth is etched onto a clay tablet and was found in Pylos. Appearing in many cultures, faiths and regions of the world, the labyrinth has been use by people for diverse purposes throughout history.

Designated as "Walk as One at 1" by TLS, this event aspires to create "a rolling wave of peaceful energy" that circles the earth by virtue of people walking a labyrinth at 1:00pm in their timezone.


 Connect with others, around the world and at Spanish Banks in Vancouver, on May 7, 2011 and walk for peace in the world and people living in harmony with nature.

March Equinox Labyrinth Event: Sunday March 20, 2011 at Spanish Banks from 1 to 3 pm - weather permitting.

This event will occur minutes before the March 20th Equinox. Many cultures and religions have celebrated equinox as a time of rebirth with observed holidays and festivals.

Equinox has the property of liminal time: that is, it is betwixt or between winter and spring. Liminal time, like liminal space, is "characterized by ambiguity, openness and indeterminacy where limits in thought, self-understanding and behaviour can be challenged and new insights considered."

Walking a labyrinth on equinox may, therefore, be a time to reflect on the past and celebrate a birth of new thoughts, insights, behaviours and deeper self-understanding.

My vision is that when you walk the labyrinth on the foreshore of Spanish Banks, during low tide, you might access liminality or liminal space.

Sunday, February 6, 2011 - Labyrinth Event will take place as scheduled today.

Reminder: appropriate rain clothing and foot wear will be needed.

These pictures are of the location I use to draw at Spanish Banks. Please refer to them when reading the directions below. You may also wish to Google "Spanish Banks, Vancouver BC map" for a map.

From 4th Avenue, turn right onto and follow North West Marine Drive, past Locarno Beach Cafe, until you reach the Spanish Banks East Cafe. Walk to the circular patio overlooking the beach, in front of the Spanish Banks East Cafe. Facing the water (with the cafe at your back) look to your left, in the distance, for a line of rocks that extends from the dry, sandy part of the beach down to the wet sand. Walk from the patio to the end of the line of rocks and look for a path made in the wet sand, with a rake, that leads away from that location. Follow the path to the labyrinth.

Labyrinth Event: Sunday, February 6, 2011 between 1 and 4 pm, at Spanish Banks, Vancouver, British Columbia - Weather permitting.

The labyrinth will be located between the East and West Spanish Banks Cafes, on the foreshore, or below the sandy part of the beach. For directions to the labyrinth see the blog post dated SATURDAY, JUNE 19, 2010; or Google: Spanish Banks, Vancouver BC map.
Consider wearing rubber boots because tide pools are cold this time of the year and, most likely, the labyrinth location will require crossing shallow water.
Most important, the weather on February 6th will determine if this event occurs, so please check back the morning of the 'walk' for confirmation.

I am back in Vancouver and plan to offer some public walks soon.

Please check back over the next week for specific dates, location and times. And, because Nature will ultimately decide if and when I may be able to draw a labyrinth on the foreshore, check back on any scheduled date for confirmation of the event.

Dusk, sundown or twilight; the time 'betwixt and between' day and night: Liminal time.

Intriguing aspects of the walk: a white, long stem, rose found beside the labyrinth which was not present before the labyrinth was drawn; a heart and the word 'Joy' found painted on rocks beside the labyrinth; and, a delivery person appearing and asking us if we ordered a pizza.

Liminality: a place to choose the chaos of the unconsciousness over the control of explanations and answers.

A new look to the Blog and plans for traveling

I have change the formatting of this Blog over the past few days. The content, however, remains the same. Please be informed that I will be traveling out of the Province soon and will not be holding events until I return. I will post a general timeline of my return before I leave.

Labyrinth Event: Today, Monday, November 29, 2010 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, Sunset Beach, English Bay - directions.

Environment Canada is predicting a wet day today, however, I have posted these photographs to clarify the location of the labyrinth if the forecast is wrong.
The general location to find is 1204 Beach Avenue, as noted in the Blog entry of Tuesday, October 26, 2010.
When you are in front of the Beach Cafe and facing the water, the Burrard Street Bridge will be on your left. Walk toward the bridge and the fenced area of the parking lot until you reach the light, on your left, and the 'No Dogs Permitted on Beach' sign, on your right. The labyrinth will be on the beach where the land slopes to the water, beyond the sign.

I will post a Blog entry at 5 pm today confirming or cancelling this event.
