Labyrinth walk: Saturday April 30, 2022 1:00 - 3:00 pm at Spanish Banks, Vancouver BC

  Weather permitting, I will be drawing a labyrinth Saturday April 30, 2022 and hosting a ‘walk’ from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Spanish Banks in Vancouver, British Columbia.

You may need to cross shallow tide pools to arrive at the labyrinth location, so please come prepared and dress for the weather.

I am undecided where I will draw a labyrinth for this event, however, the low tide time will shift soon and make it possible to draw in the afternoon. It may be on Sunset Beach in English Bay or on Spanish Banks, depending on the weather. While I do prefer to draw on Spanish Banks, it can be chilly to be out there during this time of the year.  So I will check the weather forecast around February 14th and if the forecast is calling for cooler weather, I will draw on Sunset Beach. Please check back after the 14th for confirmation of the location of the labyrinth if you would like to come and 'walk.'

Twilight Labyrinth: February 22, 2014 at Spanish Banks, Vancouver BC from 5 to 7pm.

Also look for a circle of lights in the sand, they will surround the labyrinth.

Reminder: you may need to cross shallow tides pools to arrive at the labyrinth location so come prepared.

Because this labyrinth will materialize at twilight or while the sun is setting, this event will take place during liminal time, in a liminal space or zone: on the foreshore, between the near and backshore. This double liminality will offer you 'a storehouse of possibilities' which will affect your perceptions.

Directions to the Spanish Banks Labyrinth location

These pictures are of the location I use to draw at Spanish Banks. Please refer to them when reading the directions below. You may also wish to Google "Spanish Banks, Vancouver BC map" for a map.

From 4th Avenue, turn right onto and follow North West Marine Drive, past Locarno Beach Cafe, until you reach the Spanish Banks East Cafe. Walk to the circular patio overlooking the beach, in front of the Spanish Banks East Cafe. Facing the water (with the cafe at your back) look to your left, in the distance, for a line of rocks that extends from the dry, sandy part of the beach down to the wet sand. Walk from the patio to the end of the line of rocks and look for a path made in the wet sand, with a rake, that leads away from that location. Follow the path to the labyrinth.
